Entopia officially launched its roving truck, the Bug Rover, on the 31st of October, 2015 at Penang Botanic Gardens. The Bug Rover will be making its stop-over at various destinations for the next four months with the intention to instil an appreciation for the world of insects and invertebrates amongst the public as well as to inspire people to reconnect with Mother Nature.
The 17’ truck stationed right in front of the garden gates attracted the early morning joggers. The giant Katydid and the Slender-headed Bent-toed Gecko that adorned the truck body further piqued the interest of passersby.
The crowd gathered in awe to see and have the chance to get up close and personal with our friendly Giant Millipede.
In the Bug Rover, we had other creepy friends awaiting brave souls who dared to befriend them.
CEO of Entopia, Mr Joseph Goh, and wife, graced us with their presence, and even had a try at the activities we had prepared.
As the day progressed, the crowd started to congregate in preparation for the Butterfly Release exercise we had arranged. Each person who signed up for the exercise were given a newly emerged butterfly to release into the wild!
Together, we released over 200 newly emerged butterflies into the lush greenery of the Botanic Gardens.
The butterflies were warming up their bodies before taking their first flight into the open world.
